Step 1: Cleansing

Skin cleansing is the first and one of the most important steps in your skin care routine. It removes impurities, excess sebum and becomes the foundation for the rest of your skincare to promote a healthy skin microbiome.

Cleansing doesn't have to be complicated. While it’s true that different skin types need different products, dry and sensitive skin for example would be better with creamy, oil-based cleansing products. Oily skin with sebum regulating ingredients. All skin greatly benefits from microbiome-friendly formulas enriched with prebiotics and probiotics.

We categorise our cleansing masks by skin sensitivity, as cleansers affect mostly the skin’s capillary and immune systems. Meaning you only need to check if you have sensitive skin or not.

Both Meder Beauty cleansers are actually CLEANSING MASKS. Micellar emulsions that can be used in different ways to clean skin thoroughly and gently. Unlike regular cleansers, these work better with slightly longer exposure time.

TWO WAYS TO USE MEDER BEAUTY CLEANSING MASKS

For daily cleansing: apply onto wet skin, massage for at least 30 seconds before rinsing off. For a deeper clean: apply onto dry skin all over the face like a mask. Leave on for 1-2 minutes, massage for 1-2 minutes before rinsing off with tepid water.

3 KEY TIPS:

1. Water temperature is key when it comes to cleansing. Lukewarm is good.

2. If your skin is oily, you can go a little warmer, if your skin is dry go a little cooler. Never use extreme temperatures of water. Go gentle. Even if your skin is oily, harsh cleansing can be harmful for skin.

3. Squeaky clean isn't good for your skin. Your face should never feel tight after cleansing.

PRO TIP: A good sign your skin still has its lipids after cleansing is if you can see water droplets sitting on its surface.
